Today was our annual Halloween Storytime - good time for all with a whopping 81 kids (total 143). All the Disney princesses, dragons, cats, and pumpkins came out for a good time.
We started storytime off with some not-so-scary books :
Shared "This is the House that is Haunted" :
This is the house that is haunted.
This is the moon that shines on the house that is haunted.
These are the bats that fly past the moon that shines on the house that is haunted.
This is the ghost that startles the bats that fly past the moon ...
These are the trees that sway in the breeze that flutters the ghost ...
This is the cat who sits by the trees that sway in the breeze ...
This is the pumpkin that warms the cat who sits by the trees ...
And finally, I used the book prop for "A Halloween Mask for Monster" :
This flannel/prop was purchased many years ago from Book Props Inc.
They do not make this set any more, but I suspect that it would be fairly easy to turn into a prop.
The story is quite simple and involves a monster who is looking for a mask to wear for Halloween.
Each mask he tries on (girl, boy, dog, cat) scares him too much to wear ... until he finds the perfect mask to wear -- a monster mask. A very sweet, silly and not-too-scary story for Halloween.
